2006 NPC North Carolina State Championships

The first national qualifier for North Carolina for 2006 was the NPC North Carolina State Bodybuilding, Fitness and Figure Championships that was promoted on April 8 by state chairman Mike Valentino at the High Point Theatre in High Point. ..... ..... Thirty-seven-year-old Mike Wolbert of Smithfield was unopposed in the superheavyweight class and moved automatically into the final comparisons and pose down of the class winners and took the majority of first place votes from the judges for the overall state title. ..... ..... Making her second contest appearance was Lorie Dishman, 36, of Mooresville who took all first place votes from the judging panel for a unanimous middleweight class win. ..... ..... Lorie then entered into the final comparisons and pose down of the class winners and took the majority of first place votes from the judges for the overall win. ..... ..... Rebecca Howell, 24, of Raleigh was unopposed in the Fitness Division. ..... ..... The Figure Division was divided into four height classes and it was veteran competitor Kristy Stone, 31, of Cornelius taking a two-round total of 15 points for the Class C win. ..... ..... Kristy then entered into the final comparisons of the class winners and took the majority of first place votes from the judges for the overall win.

The 2006 NPC Southern USA and Shannon Dey Fitness and Figure Championships were held at the Helen Blackburn Arnold Fine Arts Center in Panama City Beach on April 22 under the promotion of West Florida District Chairman Patrick Sporer. ..... ..... Dan Schoen, 29, of Ft. Walton Beach, FL took a one-point (7 - 8) decision for the heavyweight class win. ..... ..... Dan then entered into the final comparisons and pose down of the class winners and took a 7-10 decision for the overall title. ..... ..... Isabelle Turell, 26, of Orlando was returning to competition after a two year lay-off and was unopposed in the heavyweight class. ..... ..... Isabelle entered into the final comparisons and pose down of the class winners and took a majority of the first place votes from the judges for the overall victory. ..... ..... Bonnie Tyler, 23, of Ormond Beach, FL was making her first contest appearance and was unopposed in the Fitness Division. ..... ..... The Figure Division was divided into four height classes with a total of 42 athletes entered. ..... ..... Twenty-six-year-old Elisha Archibold of Tallahassee, FL took a two-round total of 14 points for the Class C win. ..... ..... Elisha entered into the final comparisons of the class winners and took a one-point (8 - 9) decision for the overall title.

2006 NPC Metrolina Championships

The Ovens Auditorium in Columbia, SC was the site on April 22 for the National Qualifier, Metrolina Bodybuilding, Fitness and Figure Championships under the promotion of Roger Morrison and his Morrison Productions. ..... ..... Veteran competitor Marion Benton, 34 of Columbia, SC was making his return to the stage after a 2 year absence due to knee surgeries and dominated the heavyweight class by taking all first place votes from the judges for the class win. ..... ..... Marion then moved into the final comparisons and pose down of the class winners and scored a one-point (8 - 9) decision to take the overall title. ..... ..... Tiffany Rabon, 25, of Irmo, SC scored all first place votes from the judging panel to take the middleweight class win. ..... ..... Tiffany then entered into the final comparisons and pose down and once again took all first place votes for the unanimous decision for the overall title. ..... ..... The Fitness Division drew two athletes competing for the overall title and it was a very close battle between the two. ..... ..... At the conclusion of the prejudging Allison Brookshire of Tega Cay, SC and Andrea Cloninger of Denver, SC were both tied with 30 points each. ..... ..... The high and low scores were added back into the scoring and Andrea Cloninger emerged as the overall division champion. ..... ..... The Figure Division was divided into three height classes with a total of 28 athletes competing. ..... ..... Tiffany Rabon, 25, of Irmo, SC scored a two-round total of 10 points to take the medium class win by a unanimous decision. ..... ..... Tiffany then moved into the final comparisons of the class winners and once again took all first place votes from the judging panel to take home her second title of the evening.

2006 NPC Gateway Classic Championships

A beautiful North Florida sunny day set the stage for the Gateway Classic Bodybuilding, Fitness and Figure Championships, proudly sponsored by Subway. This event was held at the Alfonso Levy Performing Arts Center in Lake City, FL on April 29th under the promotion of Tony and Caroline Curtis and their Future Fitness Gym staff. ..... ..... Lake City’s very own, heavyweight Shaun Meeks and middleweight Casey Daugherty swept their respective divisions unanimously to be crowned as the Gateway Classic open men and women bodybuilding champions. ..... ..... Amy Bates of Clearwater took the overall title in the open figure division.
