2006 NPC Southern States Championships

The 2006 NPC Southern States Bodybuilding, Fitness and Figure Championships were held on July 14 and 15 at the War Memorial Auditorium in Ft. Lauderdale under the promotion of Peter W. Potter, Maria Bellando, Manuel Mair, Juan and Leslie Stefano. ..... ..... Twenty-one-year-old Jason Hull of Sarasota, FL faced tough competition in the heavyweight class and managed to take all first place votes from the judges for the unanimous class win. ..... ..... Jason then entered into the final comparisons and pose down of the class winners and once again took all first place votes for the unanimous victory. ..... ..... Nekole Hamrick, 36, of Orlando, FL was unopposed in the heavyweight class and after the final comparisons and posse down of the class winners emerged with all first place votes from the judges for the unanimous overall title. ..... ..... The Fitness Division was divided into two height classes. ..... ..... First time competitor Ozzie Jacobs, 25, of Tampa, FL was unopposed in the short class and after the final comparisons of the class winners took the majority of first place votes from the judges for the overall title. ..... ..... The Men’s Fitness Division had a total of 10 athletes competing and it was Monte Masterson, 44, of Panama City, FL scoring a total of 13 points to take the overall title. ..... ..... The Figure Division was divided into four height classes with a total of 38 athletes entered. ..... ..... Amy Thompson, 29, of Valrico, FL scored a two-round total of 17 points to take the Class B win. ..... ..... Amy then moved into the final comparisons of the class winners and took a one-point (10-11) decision for the overall title.

Forty-two-year-old Jon Szubski of Corinth captured all first place votes from the judges for the heavyweight class win. ..... ..... Jon then entered into the final comparisons and the pose down of the class winners and was the pick of the judges for the overall win. ..... ..... Amanda Micka, 34, of Hattiesburg was making her second contest appearance and took the middleweight class win by a unanimous decision. ..... ..... Amanda entered into the final comparisons and pose down of the class winners and captured her second overall win for the season. ..... ..... The Figure Division was divided into three height classes with a total of 13 competitors. ..... ..... Forty-year-old Olga Barthlett of Horn Lake took all first place votes in both rounds of the competition for a two-round total of 10 points for the unanimous short class win. ..... ..... Olga then moved into the final comparisons of the class winners and was the choice of the judges for the overall title.

The Clayton County Performing Arts Center was the location for the 2006 NPC Georgia State Bodybuilding Championships that were held on July 8 under the promotion of Doc Neely and Doc’s Sports. ..... ..... Chris Bacon, 28, of Savannah, who was competing for the first time since he competed as a teen, took all first place votes from the judges for the lightheavyweight class win. ..... ..... Chris then entered into the final comparisons and pose down of the class winners and again took the majority of the first place votes for the overall state title. ..... ..... Fifty-five-year-old Michelle Allen of Loganville was unopposed in the heavyweight class. ..... ..... Michelle moved into the final comparisons and pose down of the class winners and was the choice of the judges for the overall victory.

The 6th Annual Southern Isles Bodybuilding and Figure Championships were held on July 22 in Savannah, GA at the Armstrong Atlantic State University’s Fine Art Hall under the promotion of Tony and Mary Ann O’Connor and attracted a record number of competitors. ..... ..... Twenty-six-year old first time competitor Alex Morris of Statesboro, GA was the pick of the judges for the middleweight class win. ..... ..... Alex then entered into the final comparisons and pose down of the class winners and once again took the majority of first place votes for the overall title. ..... ..... Tamra Fell of Rincon, GA was dominated the middleweight class and entered into the final comparisons of the weight class winners and was the choice of the judges for the overall win. ..... ..... The Figure Division was divided into two height classes and it was Jincy Thompson-Butt, 30, of Rincon, GA taking the tall class win. ..... ..... Jincy then moved into the final comparisons of the class winners and was the pick of the judges for the overall division title.

Sam’s Town Casino in Tunica, MS was the site for the 2006 NPC Battle on the Bluff Bodybuilding and Figure Championships on July 15 under the promotion of Chris and Chelle Caudy. ..... ..... Wilson Coleman, 32, of Belden, MS, who was competing for only the second time, dominated the lightheavyweight class by taking all first place votes from the judges for the unanimous class win. ..... ..... Wilson then entered the final comparisons and pose down of the class winners and took the majority of the first place votes from the judges for the overall win. ..... ..... Veteran competitor LeQuida Sanders, 33, of Jackson, MS was unopposed in the middleweight class and moved into the final comparisons and pose down of the class winners and added another overall title to her 2006 competitive season by taking the overall decision. ..... ..... The Figure Division had a total of 10 athletes competing in three height classes. ..... ..... First time competitor Jackie Swaim, 20, of Somerville, AL took a two-round total of 10 points for the unanimous short class win. ..... ..... Jackie then entered into the final comparisons of the class winners and was the pick of the judges for the overall division title.
